The Video Project  Inviting Matthew to Your School
How is The Schools Project Funded?

The Schools Project is the major charitable effort of The Matthew Kelly Foundation. This year more than 50,000 students will receive complimentary copies of one of Matthew's books after hearing him speak at their school. Many of them will then read and discuss them as part of their regular curriculum in the classroom.

Every year, hundreds of speakers visit high-schools and colleges all over the United States, but few are having the impact Matthew Kelly is on the young people of today. We believe this is due not only to strength of his message or the power and conviction with which he delivers it, but because students are able to take the message away in the tangible form of a book. This allows them to further reflect on the message both personally and in the context of the classroom.

If the message is to create a long-term residual effect in the hearts, minds, and lives of these young people, it is critical that the message has a chance to take root in their lives.

Many people consider Matthew's message to be life-changing. We believe if we can expose young people to this message it can be life-directing, rather than life-changing.

In a recent interview about his work with high school students, Matthew said, "They are so young and have not yet made the mistakes that so many of us make, the mistakes that cause us to be in need of a life-changing message. Their hearts are free. All we need to do is give them the courage to follow their hearts. If we give them a life-directing message right now, we may save them from needing a life-changing message ten, twenty, or thirty years from now."

The Video Project - Responding to the Enormous Demand   Back To Top

At The Matthew Kelly Foundation we are constantly looking for ways to nurture the seed of this life-directing message in the lives of young people.

In response to the enormous demand for Matthew to visit schools, we have spent the past three years developing a series of six DVD's to be used in the classroom. The series of DVD's entitled Living Everyday with Passion & Purpose contains more than six hours of material, and for the first time present the entire body of Matthew Kelly's material-to-date.

The DVD's are also accompanied by a workbook, which allows students to work through the programs answering the many thought provoking questions that Matthew raises during his presentations.

While it is impossible for Matthew to visit every school he is invited to speak at, it is our hope that these DVD's and workbooks will become powerful tool in sharing this much needed message with more and more of today's youth.

Inviting Matthew to Your School   Back To Top

Every year The Matthew Kelly Foundation receives significantly more invitations from schools than it is able to accommodate. All invitations are filed according to the date they are received. As funding becomes available the invitations are then honored in the chronological order they were received.

How is The Schools Project Funded?   Back To Top

Funding for The Schools Project is providing by the following sources:

  • As The Matthew Kelly Foundation is a non-profit corporation, all proceeds from the sale of Matthew's books and other published materials, after the day-to-day operational costs of running TMKF, are donated to The Schools Project.
  • At most of Matthew's events in churches, the audience is given the opportunity to contribute to The Schools Project.
  • Throughout the year, we also receive generous contributions to The Schools Project by mail and online from individuals across the United States who have been touched by Matthew's message and want to help us bring this message to more and more young people.
  • Many churches who participate in a tithing program as a community also contribute annually or bi-annually to The Schools Project.
  • In November of each year we conduct an annual appeal to raise funds to support our work in schools the following year.
  • On some occasions when a school requests Matthew to speak at a special event, or does not want to wait for the funding to become available through TMKF, the cost of the books is covered by the school or by a sponsoring parent or group of parents. When this is the case, the books are made available at cost to the schools.

  • The Schools Project is funded by ordinary people just like you. If you have been touched by Matthew's message, if you have witnessed the powerful impact it can have on people's lives, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to The Schools Project.

If you have discovered the power of Matthew's message at twenty-five, forty-five, sixty-five… or later, we ask you to ponder how your life might have been different if you had heard Matthew speak and read his books when you were in high school.

Donations made to The Schools Project make it possible for us to continue the extraordinary and much needed work we are fostering in schools across America. We hope you will consider making The Schools Project one of your favorite ways to make a charitable contribution.
